Train With Coaches Who Know How to Build Strength

The 306 Weightlifting Club offers structured strength and conditioning led by experienced coaches who understand proper technique, safe progression, and long-term development. This program supports former athletes, busy professionals, teens, and anyone who wants focused training built around quality movement and consistent progress.

Strength and Conditioning as Cross Training

Strength training develops power, balance, and durability, helping athletes stay healthy, move efficiently, and perform consistently during long seasons. Many athletes use weightlifting to support their sport, reduce injury risk, and build strength that carries into competition.

This program supports athletes from sports such as:

  • Wrestling

  • Volleyball

  • Basketball

  • Football and MMA

  • Baseball and pitching sports

  • Hockey

Strength training supports athletes in different ways depending on the demands of their sport. Field and court athletes benefit from improved speed, jumping ability, and body control, while combat and endurance athletes build resilience, grip strength, and movement efficiency under fatigue. Hockey players develop explosive power, strong legs, and stability that transfer directly to skating, shooting, and contact.

For some members, strength training is not just a way to support another sport. It becomes the main focus.

How Strength Training Supports Performance and Everyday Life

Weightlifting as Its Own Sport

For many members, weightlifting is more than cross-training. Olympic-style lifting challenges coordination, focus, and precision. Progress comes from patience, consistency, and attention to detail.

Athletes who enjoy learning skills, tracking progress, and mastering technique often find weightlifting deeply rewarding. Training sessions focus on technical lifts, strength development, and steady improvement over time.

We offer separate lifting programs so athletes can train at the appropriate level and enjoy their sessions. Our current programs are:

  • Youth and Junior Weightlifting

  • Teen High Performance Program

  • Adult Competitive Weightlifting

  • Adult Recreational Weightlifting

What Does Training Look Like?

Training sessions focus on technical lifts, strength development, and steady improvement over time, and build on previous work so athletes can progress safely and confidently.

Session Structure

Each training session follows a purposeful format:

  • A warm-up focused on mobility and movement quality

  • Skill development for the main lift

  • Strength or power-focused training

  • Accessory work to support balance and stability

  • A guided cooldown for recovery

Training Options for Teens and Adults

Learn to Lift Program for Youth and Teens

Teen athletes train in a supervised environment where technique and safety come first. Teens will learn the importance of quality movement as they perform squats, presses, and eventually graduate to more dynamic lifts like the snatch and clean and jerk.

Upcoming Programs and Registration

This program is open to participants aged 10-15 and capped at 10 lifters to maintain a high-quality teaching environment.

Program details, including schedule, cost, and registration, can be found in our upcoming program listings, where families can choose the option that best fits their needs.

Adult Competitive and Recreational Weightlifting

This program supports adults who want focused strength training, whether they are preparing for competition or lifting recreationally. Competitive athletes work on technical lifts, strength development, and meet preparation. Recreational lifters train with the same coaching and structure at a pace that fits their goals.

Compliment Your Training With Group Classes

Many members combine weightlifting with other programs to round out their training week. Group classes are a great way to add conditioning and variety alongside strength and conditioning.

"I have been lifting with 306 weightlifting club for over 6 years, almost all of which within the junior high performance program. The friends and skills I gained in that environment will be lifelong. Lifting with 306 weightlifting club as a teen girl has given me the knowledge and confidence that even now as a university student, I can walk into any gym and know that I am lifting well, and not be focused on the environment. The coaching from Jason and the team at 306 allowed me to grow at my own pace, pursuing my own dreams both in and out of the gym. From being a young teen who knew nothing about weightlifting to becoming a Canadian Junior National Champion speaks to the skill and confidence that I have gained through the club and program.  Joining 306 was easily one of the best fitness decisions I've ever made!"
