Welcome to 306 Training Grounds!
Welcome to 306 Training Grounds! You have probably clicked on our website and noticed it’s just a little bit different. We have slowly introduced some new swag garnishing the 306 Training Grounds logo over the past few months as well.
Some new questions might be going through your head now, why the change? Are you de-affiliating? Are you selling the gym? What is happening?
Well, after almost 15 years with our website, it was time for an upgrade. It seemed like a perfect time to update our brand to reflect all that we do in our space now. Just like anyone, we grow, learn and evolve. We are not the little gym that we started out as with Jason coaching every class and 50(ish) full-time members.
We have matured, learned a lot and we think that should be reflected in our brand. So, here’s a little insight into how we got here.
The name: 306 Training Grounds
We wanted to communicate how we are more than just CrossFit. We offer CrossFit, weightlifting, specialty training, a ruck club, etc. We are a training center, not just a CrossFit gym.
When we first opened, we were partnered with Reebok and tried to keep it simple – Reebok CrossFit 306. When Reebok cut ties with CrossFit, we had to update and so we created our lion head logo and just dropped the Reebok portion of the name to: CrossFit 306.
What’s with the Lion?
Strength and Power – Lions dominate their environment, embodying raw physical and inner strength. Obviously, each athlete can relate during a gruelling WOD.
Courage and Bravery – Facing challenges head-on, the lion doesn’t back down. The magic that happens in our 4 walls is when individuals show up and give everything they have. It might be something new, there might be physical limitations, but each of you shows up and tries.
Protection and Guardianship – Many cultures see lions as protectors of sacred spaces. This little gym is a very special place. It is a place for connection, community and where everyone is welcome. It is where we lose ourselves and find ourselves and that is sacred.
We wanted to keep the lion in our logo but also incorporate the wheat sheaths from our weightlifting club logo. This is a nod to our weightlifting program and to our prairie roots. We have truly grown to be more than just CrossFit, we are a weightlifting club, we have a ruck club, we are a training center for athletes.
Now to address the big elephant in the room…Are you de-affiliating with CrossFit?
At this moment, no. We are still a recognized and affiliated CrossFit gym. However, if CrossFit HQ moves away from our values or what we originally aligned with, we have the option to step away without having our whole brand and identity tied to them.
Jason has and will always write the programming for the gym. We will always train in this style, so no matter what our name says, you will get the best programming and training that we have always offered.
So, be sure to bookmark the new site. Don’t worry, you will automatically be re-directed for now.
I would also like to thank Lesia and her team at Lesia Design - https://www.lesiadesign.com/ for bringing our ideas to life. As a former member, she was able to really understand the direction we wanted to go and her team was awesome to work with.
If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to reach out to Jason or myself. Happy Training!
